Innovating for the future,
designing with an advantage.
A current Meyer Najem project, the Witham North Pavilion, is a four-story, 76,000 square foot addition to the current Witham Hospital. The first floor of the addition will house the ambulatory care, pain management and surgical centers for the hospital. The second, third and fourth floors will house physicians and patients.
This video, created by Meyer Najem’s Virtual Designer and Construction Manager, Nick DiRenzo, is an example of our in-house BIM and 3D Visualization capabilities. The fly-through was created to give Witham, partners and contractors, a visualization of what the building will look like when completed. Through the process of completing the building model we were able to make sure that all layouts and specs of the design were going to work for construction. Having this ability will help with completing the project on time and on budget.
“BIM solves the communication issue between contractor and client. Creating a virtual image of the project, bringing their idea to life.” – Nick DiRenzo
Benefits of BIM and 3D Visualization
Improved Understanding
With realistic 3D visualizations, graphics and animations, it’s easy to create a simulation of the building or project that you’re imagining. Typically, this takes place during the design and preconstruction phases, which makes it easier for you to have a better understanding of floor and room layouts, critical areas, landscape, textures and elevations.
Enhanced Curb Appeal
BIM serves as a powerful marketing tool, as visualizations and animations enhance the project’s style and curb appeal when displayed on signage, printed in advertisements and shown on high-resolution monitors. It creates a “wow” factor in the audience’s mind, driving imagination and excitement well before the building has been constructed.
Cost-saving and Construction Efficiency
BIM helps the project team identify any flaws in the original design well before construction begins. This helps improve the overall operational efficiency, enabling a cost-efficient construction project.
Meyer Najem’s BIM and 3D Visualization Services
Meyer Najem’s in-house Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) Manager can produce a practical model that can be used for all stages of the building’s lifecycle. BIM modeling provides quicker and more accurate estimating and subcontractor bid checking, greatly reduces the lengthy process of taking field measurements, and allows project teams to catch conflicts earlier by ensuring as-built drawings are accurate which helps prevent costly change orders and schedule delays.
